Peter Augustus, Queensland’s leading craft butcher and Merthyr Village go-to, has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Beef Sausage King Award by Australia’s Meat Industry Council (AMIC).
The AMIC event took place at the Twin Waters Novotel on the Sunshine Coast, serving as the grand finale for both the National AMIC Apprentice of the Year and Sausage King competitions, highlighting the exceptional skills and innovative approaches of participants in the meat industry.
The win solidifies the company’s commitment to high-quality beef and dedication to the craft of butchery at the center of everything Peter Augustus does.

Previous awards won by Peter Augustus include first place in the Brisbane NE region for their Thai Chicken Burger, Italian Pork Sausage, and Lamb Confit Garlic and Rosemary; and additional awards for their Angus Burger, Duck San Choy Bow and more, bringing their total award count to 10 in 2023, also gearing up for more submissions in 2024.
